Why does the groom’s waistcoat in so many wedding photos look like an afterthought? Because it’s usually the last piece ordered, and the first to be hired off a rack. A bespoke wedding waistcoat in West Sussex from Dandylion Style is cut close to the body from your own measurements, in cloth chosen to match your colour scheme, not whatever’s left in stock. Every wedding waistcoat at our West Sussex studio starts with a conversation about your colour scheme and whether it's worn solo or under a jacket. Meet master tailor Igor at our Ardingly studio, or we'll travel to you across Sussex, Brighton and London.
wedding waistcoat can be cut from silk, brocade, wool or linen, chosen to match your suit or stand out as a contrast piece. Sourced from British mills, this is where your wedding waistcoat starts working with your venue and season.
The part most rentals get wrong. Lapel style, back fastening, and button choice are all discussed at consultation, alongside a lining that can carry a personal touch. Every wedding waistcoat should fit close without gaping, whether standing at the altar or seated at dinner.
A meticulous measuring session captures your chest, waist, and posture, since a waistcoat lives or dies on how it sits when you sit down. From this, Igor hand-drafts a pattern kept on file — the true foundation of a wedding waistcoat built for your day.
Hand-stitched with careful attention to waist suppression and lapel roll, so your wedding waistcoat holds its shape through the ceremony, speeches and dancing rather than riding up. Every choice is explained so it still fits perfectly afterwards.
One to two fittings refine the fit through chest and waist before the big day. Once it's right, it's yours, and every time you wear your West Sussex-tailored wedding waistcoat again, you'll remember it was cut for you, not hired for the day.
Every two-piece suit is cut and fitted personally by Igor at the Ardingly studio, using British cloth chosen for how you'll actually wear it.

I have had the pleasure of working with Igor on several projects: reinventing a Ted Baker plain black coat with hot pink herringbone tweed (yes it’s as fabulous as it sounds); making a duplicate of an existing summer skirt but with bolder colours and heavier weight fabric; relining a plain H&M blazer to make it a statement piece; and various alterations and upgrades of Etsy vintage purchases. And there is always a little suggestion for “detail” here and there which really makes the difference. He is very client focused, open to new ideas, and his professionalism and the quality of work is to a very high standard, as it should be. He has a client base flung far and wide (UK, Europe, EMEA) so it’s always best to get in touch in advance to arrange appointment. And the tea and cake is always good.Posted on Google![]()

Igor has made a dress for my wife Wendy, and a three peice suit for myself, for our visit to the Buckingham Palace Garden Party. From our first phone call and subsequent visits to his shop, it was an amazing experience. He made my wife feel relaxed and confident that the dress would be what she wanted. My suit was a perfect fit, complete with matching tie and pocket square, the two shirts he made are a perfect fit. We both cannot thank Igor enough for a fantastic experience. Would thoroughly recommend him to anybody who wants bespoke tailor made suit or dress.Posted on Google![]()

My experience with Igor was first class and I would thoroughly recommend him to anyone looking to buy a bespoke suit. I have gone into more detail on my experience below. I was looking for a 3 piece suit for my wedding day and was originally looking to buy one off the rack, but hadn’t been able to find one that I was happy with the fit. I met Igor and told him what I was looking for and he very quickly narrowed down some materials for me and my partner to choose from that were within our budget. We went with the 3 piece suit, but Igor also made us a tie and pocket square out the same material as the waistcoat and also tailored a shirt I bought so that it fit me better. This was an unexpected benefit and it’s the best a shirt has fit me. I went in to see Igor a few times afterwards to check the fit of the suit and it was always a great experience. I don’t usually enjoy buying clothes but it was a pleasure dealing with Igor and I really enjoyed it. We’d just had out first child and Igor was so nice to him and accommodating of my now wife whilst she was feeding him etc. When I tried the suit on for the final time, I was so happy with what Igor had created. He bagged everything I’d need for the day in the suit bag and having a suit that looked brilliant and was made to make me look my best made the experience of having photos and videos taken that much better, I look forward to working with Igor again.Posted on Google![]()

Absolutely fabulous and highly recommended. I approached Igor for a bespoke 3 piece for my destination wedding and he did not disappoint. Consistent and reliable communication, even at weekends. He worked tirelessly to complete my suit for the deadline (with a number of alterations) and the result was immaculate finish, I could not have been more pleased. Thank you Igor!Posted on Google![]()

Well what can I say other than a wonderful experience! I needed a suit for my best friends wedding and as the Best Man decided to go all out as I just didn't have a suit that had ever worked for me. I showed Igor the styles I had in mind and we picked the fabrics. We discussed things and then he let loose. Igor is not only an amazingly creative person, but an extremely personable character. The prices might be slightly high for some, and I get that, but in all honesty you can see where the money goes. This is tailor made, not like the off the peg junk. I have a 50' chest and I'm only 5ft 10 with a 14 inch drop. It you're athletically built, off the peg suits just don't work. This whole experience was amazing and at the end of it I feel I have made a life long friend as well. Just treat yourself peeps and speak to Igor. Thank you, thank you, thank you Igor, you're a star !!!!!Posted on Google![]()

Matching cloth is more traditional and formal; a contrasting waistcoat suits a relaxed or colour-themed wedding. A bespoke wedding waistcoat in West Sussex can be cut from the same wool as your suit for a formal look, or in silk, brocade or linen to pick out your wedding's colour scheme.
Yes, a shared colour family with a slightly different shade or cloth is a common way to set the groom apart. Dandylion Style fits each member of the wedding party individually, so groomsmen waistcoats can echo the groom's without being identical.
Close to the body, with the bottom button left undone and no gap at the sides when seated. A properly fitted bespoke wedding waistcoat sits flat through the chest and waist, unlike a hired waistcoat, which is often sized to the nearest stock option and gapes when you sit for the wedding breakfast.
No, but it adds a level of formality and structure that a two-piece suit doesn't have. A wedding waistcoat also gives you the option of losing the jacket later in the day while still looking put together, particularly useful for a warm West Sussex wedding.
Order alongside your suit, 4 to 6 months before the wedding. This gives time for one to two fittings and ensures the waistcoat's cloth is available and properly coordinated with the rest of the wedding party's outfits.
