What actually separates a morning suit from a regular wedding suit, beyond the tails? It’s the cut: a morning coat curves away at the front and falls to knee length at the back, built for formal daywear rather than an evening reception. As a morning suit tailor in West Sussex, Dandylion Style hand-cuts every coat, waistcoat and trouser from your own measurements at our Ardingly studio. Enquire for pricing.

Every morning suit at our West Sussex studio starts with a conversation about the occasion, whether it's a formal wedding, Ascot, or a country event. Meet master tailor Igor at our Ardingly studio, or we'll travel to you across Sussex, Brighton and London.
A morning suit is traditionally cut from herringbone or barathea wool for the coat and waistcoat, paired with pinstripe or houndstooth trousers, sourced from British mills. This classic cloth pairing is what marks a morning suit out from ordinary formal daywear.
The part most hire shops standardise away. Peak lapel shape, waistcoat colour, and cravat or tie choice are all discussed at consultation, plus button and pocket detail specific to a morning coat. Every morning suit should carry a detail that's genuinely yours.
A meticulous measuring session captures your posture, shoulder line, and the small asymmetries a hire morning suit can't account for. From this, Igor hand-drafts a paper pattern kept on file the true foundation of a morning suit built for your West Sussex occasion.
Hand-stitched with hand-canvassed construction through the chest and shoulder, giving the coat proper shape rather than a stiff, boxy fit borrowed from a hire suit. Every choice is explained, so your morning suit holds its line through a full formal day.
Two to three fittings take place before the final reveal, refining coat length, waistcoat fit, and trouser break. Once it's right, it's yours, and every formal occasion you wear it, your West Sussex-tailored morning suit will still fit exactly as it should.
Every two-piece suit is cut and fitted personally by Igor at the Ardingly studio, using British cloth chosen for how you'll actually wear it.

I have had the pleasure of working with Igor on several projects: reinventing a Ted Baker plain black coat with hot pink herringbone tweed (yes it’s as fabulous as it sounds); making a duplicate of an existing summer skirt but with bolder colours and heavier weight fabric; relining a plain H&M blazer to make it a statement piece; and various alterations and upgrades of Etsy vintage purchases. And there is always a little suggestion for “detail” here and there which really makes the difference. He is very client focused, open to new ideas, and his professionalism and the quality of work is to a very high standard, as it should be. He has a client base flung far and wide (UK, Europe, EMEA) so it’s always best to get in touch in advance to arrange appointment. And the tea and cake is always good.Posted on Google![]()

Igor has made a dress for my wife Wendy, and a three peice suit for myself, for our visit to the Buckingham Palace Garden Party. From our first phone call and subsequent visits to his shop, it was an amazing experience. He made my wife feel relaxed and confident that the dress would be what she wanted. My suit was a perfect fit, complete with matching tie and pocket square, the two shirts he made are a perfect fit. We both cannot thank Igor enough for a fantastic experience. Would thoroughly recommend him to anybody who wants bespoke tailor made suit or dress.Posted on Google![]()

My experience with Igor was first class and I would thoroughly recommend him to anyone looking to buy a bespoke suit. I have gone into more detail on my experience below. I was looking for a 3 piece suit for my wedding day and was originally looking to buy one off the rack, but hadn’t been able to find one that I was happy with the fit. I met Igor and told him what I was looking for and he very quickly narrowed down some materials for me and my partner to choose from that were within our budget. We went with the 3 piece suit, but Igor also made us a tie and pocket square out the same material as the waistcoat and also tailored a shirt I bought so that it fit me better. This was an unexpected benefit and it’s the best a shirt has fit me. I went in to see Igor a few times afterwards to check the fit of the suit and it was always a great experience. I don’t usually enjoy buying clothes but it was a pleasure dealing with Igor and I really enjoyed it. We’d just had out first child and Igor was so nice to him and accommodating of my now wife whilst she was feeding him etc. When I tried the suit on for the final time, I was so happy with what Igor had created. He bagged everything I’d need for the day in the suit bag and having a suit that looked brilliant and was made to make me look my best made the experience of having photos and videos taken that much better, I look forward to working with Igor again.Posted on Google![]()

Absolutely fabulous and highly recommended. I approached Igor for a bespoke 3 piece for my destination wedding and he did not disappoint. Consistent and reliable communication, even at weekends. He worked tirelessly to complete my suit for the deadline (with a number of alterations) and the result was immaculate finish, I could not have been more pleased. Thank you Igor!Posted on Google![]()

Well what can I say other than a wonderful experience! I needed a suit for my best friends wedding and as the Best Man decided to go all out as I just didn't have a suit that had ever worked for me. I showed Igor the styles I had in mind and we picked the fabrics. We discussed things and then he let loose. Igor is not only an amazingly creative person, but an extremely personable character. The prices might be slightly high for some, and I get that, but in all honesty you can see where the money goes. This is tailor made, not like the off the peg junk. I have a 50' chest and I'm only 5ft 10 with a 14 inch drop. It you're athletically built, off the peg suits just don't work. This whole experience was amazing and at the end of it I feel I have made a life long friend as well. Just treat yourself peeps and speak to Igor. Thank you, thank you, thank you Igor, you're a star !!!!!Posted on Google![]()

A morning suit is formal daywear built around a knee-length morning coat, waistcoat and striped trousers. Unlike a standard two-piece or dinner suit, a morning coat is cut away at the front and tailed at the back, traditionally worn for formal daytime weddings, Royal Ascot and other daywear events.
When the dress code specifically calls for formal daywear, such as a church wedding before evening or a racecourse enclosure. A morning suit tailor in West Sussex builds the coat, waistcoat and trousers as a set, so it's the correct choice whenever an invitation states morning dress, rather than a lounge suit.
Traditionally a dove grey, buff, or patterned waistcoat, though the choice is flexible. Waistcoat colour is one of the few places a morning suit allows personal styling, and Igor discusses options at consultation to suit the wedding's colour scheme or the venue's formality.
Yes, a bespoke morning suit is hand-cut to your own measurements rather than the nearest hire size. As a dedicated morning suit tailor in West Sussex, Dandylion Style hand-drafts the coat's distinctive cutaway front and tails to fit properly, something a rented morning suit rarely achieves.
Typically 8 to 12 weeks from consultation to final fitting. This allows time for hand-canvassed construction and two to three fittings, so book with plenty of notice ahead of a wedding or Ascot date.
